Early Valentine's Day!

My mom is making homemade pizza tonight and I've decided to make an early Valentine's Day treat.  White cake with Dark Chocolate Ganache frosting.  I hope everyone likes it! :)









Recipe:

Make Cake:

  • 1 boxed cake, flavor of your choice
  • Eggs, oil & water based on box directions

Prepare cake according to box directions.  Bake in desired greased pans.  Let cool completely. 

Make Frosting:


  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pound bittersweet chocolate, roughly chopped
  1. In a large saucepan, bring 2 cups heavy cream, 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar, and 1/8 teaspoon salt to a boil. Remove from heat; add 1 pound bittersweet chocolate, roughly chopped, and let stand, without stirring, for 1 minute. Whisk just until combined. Refrigerate, stirring occasionally, until spreadable, about 1 hour.

Decorate however you like!  Use sprinkles, other frosting piped around the edges or on top.
